The Gift Of Forgiveness
Forgiveness is the mental, emotional and spiritual process of letting go of resentment, indignation and anger. It could be against another person or persons for something you feel they have created, and which has created so much pain in your life. It could be anyone in any given moment, but to forgive is all about you and how you want to see the situation and, really, to find in yourself whether you can walk away and move forward. It really has nothing to do with forgiving a person or persons because that could mean that you would accept them back in your life to do the same thing all over again; and that would be an act of mercy.
To forgive is you forgiving everything that went on in this situation while you were being hurt or bullied. It is also you as a person forgiving what the universe has brought to you in learning all those lessons. If you can’t forgive, then there is a guarantee that it will eat you up forever and you will end up being very bitter about your life and those around you. There is also a forgiving of yourself for allowing this situation, or many situations throughout your life, to materialize. Then, there is a forgiving of whoever betrayed you in whatever way they did and finding the strength to turn around and walk away from the situation.
Knowing when to forgive is hard as it does have to be the right time for you, and sometimes the perpetrator has to finish what they set out to do. When someone has taken your life in their hands and pushed their way through, not allowing you to move on, they have abused your human rights in all ways.
How do you forgive this? First, you must look at turning the other cheek to what has been going on. That can make life even harder to perceive, but to turn the other cheek you must do as this is a healing process that must begin to allow you to move forward and away from the pain. For you to forgive is the greatest gift the higher beings have given to all of us in lessons of love, and that is not only love with a close person but love in the general sense with the world.
In forgiveness you must forgive unconditionally, without the perpetrators having any acceptance of the fact that they have committed an offence, be it in the human world or the world of the higher beings. You must also forgive without any apology; forgiving without a peace offering of any sort is the greatest gift to yourself. Your forgiving and letting go of the pain and anger of them doing what they did without any punishment at all is your gift to yourself, thus allowing you to step forward and move swiftly on without looking back in anger.
In the world today, it is increasingly clear that the key to peace lies in forgiving and in people’s ability to take away the blocks and barriers of race, nationality and religion. These have been a constant cause of conflict both in the world today and in the past. We are all so different and that is something to understand. There also has to be a willingness to forgive the violence on both sides and the patterns people form in their lives. Forgiveness is also the first step in achieving the harmony and a better beginning of a new relationship and the willingness to move forward to the solution to an end of the violence once and for all; a beginning of peace, harmony and understanding of how we are all in life so different and how we all need the room to be understood in our differences and grow in our own way. What a gift from the universe.
Forgiveness is to heal. Forgiving unconditionally for oneself to move on is the empowering of oneself. The perpetrator cannot be part of your life, not at that moment; they have to grow. To let them in again now would be an act of mercy. It is not to forgive and forget; it is to forgive and move on. Unless we want to remember history, we will be condemned to repeat it. Let the people go, let that part of your life go, never to return. You have forgiven your life and in peace you have moved on to something greater ‒ a love of you and a great love of life. Take a look at your life and see if you too can forgive and move on into a happier place in love. It feels so good, so empowering. Here we are in a new world of spiritual enlightenment, and so to the new beginning of life.
